We love Douglas Lake!

More than 30,000 acres, the lake is surrounded by beautiful Tennessee scenery. If you like water sports, this is the place for you. Douglas Lake is a top rated fishing lake for bass and crappie. Catch other favorites such as sunfish and bluegill.

There are lots of coves and inlets to explore. It's a great lake for boating.

Katie and Karen especially enjoy sailing on our little sunfish.

Actually, Katie does the sailing and Karen enjoys the scenery. Beautiful vistas surround us with rolling hills, rocky shorelines and gorgeous skies.

Douglas Lake offers plenty of water activities such as boating, fishing, and swimming.

Last year we added a large lakeside dock, perfect for a picnic or a relaxing evening after a day on the lake.
Our hillside trees keep the deck shaded until mid-afternoon so it's a cool place to enjoy a gentle breeze.
Of course, the floating dock is always in the sun and is great for diving and jumping into the deep water.

Hiking In Great Smoky Mountains

Our cabin is close to the Great Smoky Mountains National Forest. We like to drive there and just choose a place to stop and go for a hike. There are over 800 miles of maintained trails to hike; some are easy and some are strenuous. We always find some beautiful rocky waterfalls!

This cute little fawn visited our cabin last summer. I was standing on the front porch and heard a rustling sound in the bushes below. The little guy scrambed up the hill and timidly walked right up to the edge of the porch! I wanted Jim, Katie and Randy to come see him but was afraid I would scare him away if I moved. Fortunately they did come out of the cabin in time. Eventually, he wandered down the hill and lay down in some tall grass just below the deck. We took several pictures of him. The next morning he was still in the same spot in the grass. We began to worry that something had happened to his mama because he was left alone for so long. We spent most of the morning checking on him. That afternoon we went for a hike in the Great Smokey Mountains National Forest and when we returned he was gone. Mama doe had found her wandering little guy.
Waters Edge Cabin is located on Tranquility Trail in Paradise Landing Resort. What perfect names! Our cabin is a perfect place to get away from our hectic daily schedules. Our guests enjoy the peace and quiet, as well. The screened porch offers a gorgeous view of the lake. Jim and I like to enjoy our morning coffee on the porch or deck watching the birds. The song birds fill the air with their special music. There are always fishermen on the lake and we also enjoy watching them!

Welcome to our home in Paradise. Waters Edge is a dream come true! We have always enjoyed vacations at privately owned lakefront cabins and cottages in our original home state of Michigan. Every summer we escaped the heat of Florida with our children, Katie and Randy. The two day drive to Michigan was always rewarded with wonderful family reunions and lazy, relaxing days at a lake. We towed our little Sunfish sailboat along because Katie loves to sail. Every vacation included a search for the perfect lakefront property we could someday call our own. We never imagined that we would find the perfect place in Tennessee!
